The Headteacher and SENCO of a highly regarded primary school in Everton are seeking a dedicated and experienced Phonics Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with EYFS and KS1 staff to plan, deliver, and assess targeted Phonics, Reading, and Writing interventions. The successful candidate will be based on‑site and will play a key role in supporting early literacy development across the school.
This newly created position offers a highly rewarding experience, particularly for an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong passion for early reading and a deep understanding of the needs of younger learners. Candidates must feel confident delivering high‑quality phonics interventions, supporting children who require additional help to make progress, and adapting activities to meet a range of learning needs.
Experience of working with pupils with a variety of SEN—including ASC, ADHD, and MLD—is essential. The role also requires strong communication skills and the ability to monitor, record, and feedback on pupil progress effectively. Collaboration with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff is a vital part of the role.
The position will begin in September 2026, with the potential to become permanent depending on the success and impact of the interventions delivered throughout the academic year.
The school is centrally located within Everton, well connected by public transport, and offers free on‑site parking for staff.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
* Experience supporting children in EYFS and/or KS1
* Strong knowledge of Phonics and early Literacy
* Full availability Monday to Friday
* Creativity, enthusiasm, and a nurturing approach to inspire pupils and help them achieve their potential
