We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our client's team in Montgomery, Alabama. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical abilities and a solid understanding of accounting principles, who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced office environment. As this is a Contract-to-Permanent position, it offers the opportunity to transition into a long-term role based on performance.
Responsibilities:
• Review, allocate, and record accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure accuracy.
• Document and refine business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
• Collaborate in setting financial standards and contribute to forecasting activities.
• Provide valuable input during departmental goal-setting initiatives.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues, offering actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Partner with fellow accountants and the Controller to manage various accounting tasks.
• Oversee and support all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance reporting processes.
• Assist in generating timely monthly financial statements and regulatory reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience in a detail-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Enterprise software.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and month-end closing procedures.
• Ability to work on-site in Montgomery, Alabama in an office environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
