Job Purpose: To assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages to pupils, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals under the supervision of the Catering Manager or Cook. Serve food to pupils and staff in a timely and friendly manner. Set up and clear away tables, chairs, and food service equipment. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using manual and/or mechanical cleaning methods. Ensure that food hygiene and health & safety regulations are followed at all times. Help with stock rotation and the storage of deliveries. Maintain cleanliness in food preparation and dining areas. Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the Catering Manager. Work as part of a team to ensure efficient running of the kitchen. Support special school events or themed menu days as required. Person Specification: Essential: Good communication and team-working skills. Basic food hygiene knowledge. Ability to follow instructions and work on own initiative. Punctual, reliable, and flexible. Desirable: Previous experience in a catering or food service environment. Level 1 or 2 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to undertake training).
