We have an exciting opportunity to join the bank as a Compute Lead. The Head of Compute will drive the vision and direction to consolidate and align Santander UKs Compute platforms, supporting the acceleration to Cloud migration and reducing overall Data Centre footprint.
You will lead and drive the overall strategy of multiple functional areas across Virtualisation, UNIX and Windows and look to identify opportunities for automation, cost savings and service quality improvement, whilst playing a pivotal role in directing operations to support existing infrastructure, applications and the development of new solutions to meet the requirements of Application and Product Teams.
If you have experience directing and driving compute strategy and continual service improvement and want to be part of our journey in optimising the agility of the Digital Transformation journey, this could be the role for you.
The difference you’ll make.
o Delivering effective service management through the definition and adoption of a governance practice that uses KPIs and metrics to track and measure the quality of service.
o Working with the CTO, Infrastructure in the development of the global strategy for Santander UK Infrastructure, designing and providing project cost estimates for new initiatives and deputising when required.
o Staying abreast of the latest technology developments to ensure service levels proactively meet or exceed Santander UK requirements and service level agreements with key stakeholders and vendors.
o Working with third party vendors to evaluate existing contracts, adopt new technologies and drive contract efficiency.
o Connecting business knowledge, technical skills and competencies that balance between growing the agility required to achieve digital business objectives and ensuring that the core IT functions are reliable, stable and efficient.
o Managing the growing maturity of the organization by introducing revisions to the operating model that accommodate the move from a project-driven to a product family, service-centric environment.
What you’ll bring.
o Have demonstrated delivering end to end lifecycle of Windows and Unix platforms across a large On/Off premise estate (Physical/Virtual and Public Cloud)
o Demonstrate management of currency, resilience and Vulnerability
o Align to Group Compute OS Platforms and ensure we meet our UK requirements
o Maintain the Compute strategy and ensure it is aligned to group and our business needs.
o Be able to Manage Financials and ensure we are gaining maximum investment benefit
It would also be nice for you to have.
o Can demonstrate a Risk and Control mindset on how to manage the estate
o Worked previously within the financial sector or a large service provider
o Have experience of Database and Middleware Products
o ITIL Certification
What else you need to know.
This is a permanent role to be based at our Milton Keynes office with some remote working. Time spent working from the Milton Keynes office will be 2-3 days per week initially.
