Job Responsibilities:
1. Manage, lead, and delegate duties to yard staff, ensuring tasks are completed effectively.
2. Organise holiday rotas for yard staff to ensure adequate coverage for the workload.
3. Recruit and train new staff members, ensuring all key compliances are met.
4. Conduct regular health and safety risk assessments and ensure adherence to H&S policies.
5. Ensure visible signage, proper staff uniforms and safety gear, and the prevention of hazards.
6. Serve as the first point of contact for customers arriving at the branch.
7. Maintain yard tidiness and ensure health & safety compliance at all times.
8. Check, account for, and correctly load goods.
9. Provide excellent customer service and product advice.
10. Assist with unloading and loading deliveries using a forklift.
Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have strong man-management experience and the ability to lead effectively. Knowledge of timber and building materials, gained from working within a builders merchants environment, is essential.
