Queen Margaret Hospital

The Fife Children & Young Peoples Integrated Occupational Therapy Service (NHS & Council) is a forward thinking, quality driven service committed to improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and supportive team.

This is a community based post primarily covering West and Central Fife, with some flexibility to work across other areas of Fife in response to service demand.

The role involves working across a range of community settings, including clinics, nurseries, schools, community centres and family homes. You will manage a generic caseload of children from birth to school leaving age, supporting those with a wide range of needs and conditions that impact participation in everyday activities. Our service operates a tiered model of delivery, and you will contribute to universal, targeted and individualised interventions. We are also actively embedding digital health systems and telehealth approaches to enhance clinical delivery and improve outcomes.

You should have experience within health and/or social care settings, with experience of working with children, young people and families being highly desirable.

We are looking for a highly motivated, reflective practitioner with excellent communication skills. You will work in partnership with children and their families to collaboratively develop and review care plans, and you will liaise closely with education, health and social care colleagues to support coordinated care and educational planning.

Our service has a strong focus on quality improvement and performance management, with priorities aligned to both local and national strategic aims for children, young people and their families.

We offer robust clinical governance arrangements and well established structures to support continued professional development, ensuring you are well supported to grow and thrive in your role.

You will be joining our supportive and innovative service. Reflective practice and advanced clinical reasoning are embedded within the service culture. There is an opportunity and expectation that you will participate in the Flying Start programme.

5/7 working week and flexible working arrangements exist to meet individual and service needs.

For informal enquiries, please contact Sarah Negrette, Head of Children & Young Peoples Occupational Therapy -
.

Interviews will be held in person on Tuesday 21st April 2026, as there will be a practical element involved as part of the interview selection process, therefore we are unable to offer virtual / Teams.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your applicationbut your answers must be your own.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or going rate. Further information on these criteria can be foundhere.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsoredBEFORE submitting your application form.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a 'regulated role', your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. For more details on these changes please visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
