An excellent opportunity has arisen for an early-career English Teacher to join a coeducational secondary academy serving the Coventry/Warwickshire border region. This is a full-time, permanent ECT role, teaching Key Stages 3–4, including GCSE English & Literature .
About the Role
You will plan and deliver creative, student-centred lessons that build confidence in reading, writing, and critical analysis. As an ECT, you’ll receive dedicated mentorship, structured induction support, and a clear professional development pathway. The English department is ambitious and collaborative, with access to shared planning time, digital resources, and a supportive team eager to help you grow. You may have opportunities to lead reading groups, writing workshops, or contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds QTS, PGCE or equivalent qualification
* Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English & Literature
* Is eager to teach GCSE English (and potentially KS3)
* Is organised, reflective, patient, and committed to developing their teaching practice
* Has the legal right to work in the UK
The School
Located in a suburban area on the edge of Coventry, the school caters to approximately 1,000 pupils aged 11–18. Around 55% of students achieved 5+ in English & Maths at GCSE. Class sizes are typically around 20 pupils per class, giving room for individual attention.
