We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) / Family Support Worker (FSW) to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and to work closely with families to remove barriers to learning.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children who may be experiencing emotional, social or mental health difficulties and in strengthening links between home and school.
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering targeted ELSA interventions to individual pupils and small groups
Supporting children with emotional literacy, resilience, self-esteem and social skills
Working with families to offer guidance, support and signposting to appropriate services
Building positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers and staff
Liaising with class teachers, the SENCo and external agencies as appropriate
Maintaining clear records and contributing to reviews and progress monitoring
Promoting the school’s ethos of safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience of working with children and families, ideally in a school or community setting
Have ELSA training or be willing to undertake ELSA training
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be caring, empathetic and able to build trust with pupils and parents
Show a good understanding of emotional wellbeing and family support needs
Be able to work independently as well as part of a supportive team
Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
