Overview
A leading pharmaceutical organisation is seeking an experienced Commercial Supply Chain Manager for a 6‑month contract to oversee UK commercial product supply, manage 3PL performance, and strengthen supply chain resilience across the region. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted patient access, compliant distribution, and operational excellence within a highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in pharmaceutical supply chain operations, 3PL oversight, and UK market distribution, with a proven ability to anticipate risks and implement robust mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
3PL & Distribution Management
* Lead day‑to‑day management of the company’s UK 3PL partner(s), ensuring service excellence across warehousing, distribution, order fulfilment, and returns.
* Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance; drive continuous improvement and issue resolution.
* Oversee inventory accuracy, stock reconciliation, and compliance with GDP and internal quality standards.
UK Commercial Supply Operations
* Manage end‑to‑end commercial supply for the UK market, including forecasting alignment, replenishment planning, and product availability.
* Coordinate with global supply, quality, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure timely product release and market readiness.
* Support product launches, lifecycle changes, and supply transitions.
Supply Chain Resilience & Risk Management
* Identify vulnerabilities across the UK supply chain and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
* Lead resilience planning, including scenario modelling, safety stock strategy, and contingency planning.
* Support business continuity initiatives and ensure readiness for supply disruptions, regulatory changes, or market volatility.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Act as the UK supply chain point of contact for internal stakeholders, including commercial, finance, regulatory, and quality.
* Provide supply insights for S&OP processes, demand reviews, and strategic planning.
* Partner with quality teams to ensure GDP compliance and support audits or inspections as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Significant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech supply chain management, ideally within the UK market.
* Strong background in 3PL management, including performance oversight and contract governance.
* Deep understanding of UK drug distribution, GDP requirements, and commercial supply processes.
* Proven ability to manage complex supply chains, resolve operational issues, and drive resilience initiatives.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, fast‑paced environment.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication capabilities.
