Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior Finance Officer to join Kirklees Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day financial support to a mixed portfolio of services
*
Support and specialise in key finance functions such as financial planning, corporate accounting or capital accounting
*
Lead on budget monitoring, forecasting and financial reporting
*
Attend and contribute to meetings with Budget Holders and Senior Managers, presenting financial information and advice
*
Support the delivery of capital accounting activities within a public sector environment
*
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures
*
Line manage, supervise and support Finance Officers and Assistant Finance Officers
*
Contribute to service improvements and the development of effective financial processes
About You
*
Significant experience working within a public sector finance environment
*
Local Authority experience is preferred, however candidates from other public sector backgrounds will be considered
*
Proven experience of:
*
Budget monitoring and financial forecasting
*
Presenting financial information to Budget Holders and Senior Managers
*
Supervising and supporting junior finance staff
*
Capital accounting within the public sector
