Sustainability Specialist

The Sustainability Specialist role is responsible for supporting positive conditions for sustainability by driving awareness and change to meet our Planet Health ambitions. In doing this, you'll not only contribute to a positive perception of Bupa Dental Care, but also encourage others to come on the journey with us. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of a multi-year plan that will advance our sustainability ambition and continue to further embed sustainability practices and metrics into the business.
Under the direction of the Head of Sustainability, you will support us to achieve our Net Zero ambitions, accelerate sustainable dentistry, and position Bupa Dental Care as trusted and valued partners in our local communities – connecting into the Bupa Dental Foundation.
Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day delivery of a multi-year strategic sustainability plan for Bupa Dental Care, covering initiatives and improvements that with help meet our Planet Health ambition.
* Lead and maintain an active community across our organisation to educate, share ideas, foster innovation and lead the change in behaviors that will result in more effective integration of sustainable practices.
* Close working with all parts of Bupa Dental Care, and other parts of Bupa Global & UK (BGUK) and Bupa Group as directed.
* Create and share compelling stories, amplifying Planet Health and developing narratives and communication assets.
* Administer BDC Planet Health cross-functional forums and working groups, and support governance & reporting for the BDC Planet Health Steering Group and BDC reporting into various BGUK sustainability committees and forums.
* Be a trusted contact and sustainability subject matter expert for internal and external parties, including practices, laboratories, support functions, BGUK and Bupa Group teams, suppliers, industry groups, and other third-party partners.
What we're looking for
* 3+ years' sustainability / Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) experience working within a medium to large organisation, preferably dental care or other healthcare services
* External credibility, with a growing network
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver initiatives to time, cost and quality
* Experience of sourcing and driving sustainability innovation
* Literate in core sustainability metrics, with experience of the measurement and reporting of KPIs
* Confidence and experience in working with front-line teams, with varying sustainability knowledge levels
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders / bodies.
* Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to bridge knowledge gaps.
* Strong communication skills
* Willingness to travel to our Bristol Head office, BDC dental practices and laboratories, across the UK and ROI
