🚀 Lead Software Engineer (AI / LLM / Product)

💰 £90k – £110k

📍 UK Remote


I’m working with a high growth, product led AI company building genuinely impactful software in a heavily regulated industry.


This isn’t “AI for the sake of it”. They’re deploying production ready, agent driven systems that are replacing manual, fragmented workflows with intelligent, end to end products used by major enterprise clients.


They’ve already seen strong commercial traction, have backing from well known investors, and are now scaling their engineering team as demand accelerates.


💡 The role


This is a Lead Engineer position, acting as the most senior technical voice within a product squad.


You’ll work closely with an Engineering Manager, owning:


* Technical direction
* Architecture decisions
* Engineering quality end to end


It’s a hands on leadership role, not just oversight.


⚙️ What you’ll be doing


* Leading development of LLM powered features, including RAG pipelines and agent based workflows
* Setting the standard for how AI is used across the full development lifecycle
* Building across the stack using Node.js or Python, AWS and React where needed
* Designing scalable, event driven systems in a cloud native environment
* Mentoring engineers and shaping engineering best practices
* Working closely with platform teams to build reusable, scalable components
* Ensuring everything is production ready, auditable and compliant by design


🧠 What they’re looking for


* Strong experience as a senior or lead engineer with real ownership of technical direction
* Proven experience building AI/LLM systems in production
* Solid understanding of RAG, prompt engineering, evaluation and agent frameworks
* Strong backend experience in Node.js or Python (ideally both)
* Experience building on AWS with event driven architecture
* Someone who cares about clean systems, scalability and long term maintainability
