Role Overview
The post holder will be based at the Peter Hodgkinson Centre, Lincoln County Hospital. The post holder will carry a distinct clinical caseload as Approved Clinician / Responsible Clinician on Castle Ward, a female acute inpatient unit. They will also provide two sessions to our Psychiatric Clinical Decisions Unit (PCDU) and Mental Health Urgent Assessment Centre (MHUAC) and offer highly specialised clinical care specifically within the inpatient and urgent care pathway, using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidenced based and within their specific professional skill set.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist to support and oversee the planning and delivery of care to people with complex emotional, psychological, social, physical and mental health needs and providing clinical and professional support as required.
* Act as Approved Clinician, the clinical lead for all allocated patients admitted to the wards, taking the lead role in all aspects of their care for the duration of their admission, providing senior clinical oversight of service users with the most complex mental health needs.
* Take overall clinical and legal responsibility for patients detained under the MHA and demonstrate associated expertise in the assessment, treatment and management of personality disordered patients.
* Provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team and joint work with colleagues from other disciplines in the provision of high-quality clinical care.
* Work alongside an in-patient Consultant Psychiatrist, acting as a resource and taking responsibility for the provision of expert advice and guidance in relation to Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act.
* Head a multi-professional team of medical staff, nursing staff of all grades, social therapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers, who work closely with the unit leadership to deliver a safe and highly effective service.
* Receive Approved Clinician supervision from the Lead Consultant Psychiatrist and professional supervision according to professional registration requirements.
* Line management provided by the Consultant responsible for the service.
