An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rural Estate Manager to lead and develop the rural portfolio of the Hatfield Park Estate, part of Gascoyne Estates, which also includes the Cranborne Estate in Dorset, and London property interests.
Reporting to the Hatfield Estate Director, and working closely with other department heads, you will lead a small team to manage the Estate’s rural assets and operations, drive innovation, identify new revenue opportunities and ensure alignment with Gascoyne’s wider strategic objectives.
The role involves managing the tenanted rural property including six let farms and a significant portfolio of wayleaves, easements and grazing paddocks, overseeing forestry and mineral operations, environmental management, renewable energy projects, and two in-hand shoots. It also includes supporting wider development and diversification initiatives and addressing land law matters. A strong emphasis is placed on environmental stewardship, conservation, sustainability and the promotion of natural capital.
Primary responsibilities will include, managing the rural budget and overseeing land-based operations, strengthening relationships with tenant farmers and stakeholders, leading the Land Management team, identifying and implementing new income streams, setting the strategy and shaping future business plans, ensuring compliance, H&S, and safeguarding of Estate interests, and enhancing the Estate’s profile through marketing and social media.
Candidate Profile:
* Ideally MRICS with experience of rural estate management and an understanding of farming, forestry and wider land management practices
* Strong skills in budgeting, strategic planning and performance analysis
* Innovative, entrepreneurial, and collaborative in approach
* Effective communicator and confident influencer
* Comfortable working independently and driving change
* Commercially driven with a passion for sustainability
