About the role
The job holder will ensure the smooth management of the warehouse operation, with responsibility for the delivery of cost, service, compliance, people KPIs – in line with company and legal standards and requirements.
Responsibility for the warehouse night shift with a support and deputy role for Warehouse Logistics Manager as required.
Key Duties
1. Manage labour resources effectively to meet operational demand
2. Ensure inbound goods are received accurately and to quality standards
3. Work closely with stock teams to investigate variances and implement corrective action
4. Deliver productivity and quality targets within agreed cost parameters
5. Deliver daily, weekly and monthly operational plans
6. Communicate proactively with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders
7. Ensure the warehouse is fully operational, compliant and ready for shift handovers
8. Support monthly reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
9. Review warehouse layout and ways of working to optimise efficiency
10. Ensure full compliance with company, customer and legal standards
11. Complete warehouse and H&S audits through to corrective action sign‑off
12. Maintain high housekeeping standards and proactively manage workplace risks
13. Line manage, coach and develop team members
14. Manage performance, conduct investigations and address people issues effectively
15. Identify and support training needs, including mandatory compliance training
16. Lead accident and incident investigations and communicate learnings
17. Lead in line with company values and management principles
18. Create a positive, safe and productive working environment
19. Take ownership of challenges and implement practical solutions
20. Drive change, innovation and continuous improvement across the operation
About you
21. Proven management experience within FMCG, logistics or a similar operational environment
22. Strong track record of leading, developing and motivating teams
23. Strong people management skills (performance, engagement, ER issues)
24. KPI-driven with the ability to manage targets and solve problems
25. Highly organised, detail-focused and able to work under pressure
26. Passionate about quality, service and Health & Safety
27. Confident communicator at all levels
28. Flexible to working patterns as required by the operation
29. Knowledge of warehouse systems, cost control and Health & Safety
30. IOSH Managing Safely – desirable
31. Reach and Counterbalance MHE licence – desirable
32. Proficient in MS Office – essential
