Overview
The MPGS provides professional soldiers to meet armed security requirements at Royal Navy, Army, RAF and other MOD bases across the UK Mainland. Our primary role is to counter the terrorist threat posed to military bases within the UK.
Responsibilities
* Security incident management – including suspicious packages, bomb threats, protests and other incident types.
* Patrolling site perimeters – taking necessary action to preserve perimeter security.
* Controlling entry and exit – managing control room and gate operations and ensuring all visitors are dealt with efficiently.
* Military Working Dog services – available at selected sites.
Qualifications
* Background – at least 3 years prior Military Service, or currently serving, in any branch of the British Military (regular or reserves).
* Age – over 18 and under 57 years of age at re‑enlistment.
* Fitness Eligibility – medically fit with a Body Mass Index below 32.
* Driving Licence – a full UK driving licence with less than 8 penalty points.
* Previously Served Personnel –
o Gap since leaving service no more than 10 years for former substantive Cpl/LH (or equivalent) and above ranks; no more than 6 years for former non‑substantive Cpl/LH and below ranks.
o Waivers may be granted subject to approval and interview processes.
o Previous service records will be checked and final authorisation must be given by the Army Personnel Centre.
* Currently Serving Personnel – any currently serving regular or reserve personnel wishing to transfer to the MPGS should email ArmyPM-MPGS-Recruitment@mod.gov.uk immediately to discuss the best process.

* Entry level salary £26,489 (Pte) incrementally increasing to £29,269 (Pte) over 4 years.

Job Type: Full‑time, permanent.
Schedule: 12‑hour shifts on a structured system of 4 on / 4 off.
