Job Overview

The NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London has recently been awarded funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to optimise the delivery of world class research in ophthalmology and science associated with vision and sight.

The Facility forms part of the Moorfields NIHR Biomedical Research Centre for Ophthalmology, a joint initiative between Moorfields Eye Hospital and University College London Institute of Ophthalmology and is one of three London based Academic Health Science centres which together form the University College London Partners.

The CRF is dedicated to the delivery of high quality clinical research, including experimental medicine and translational research studies, pioneering new therapies for the treatment of a range of ophthalmic disorders. It offers a clinical environment in which patients and researchers are supported by a team of specialist research support staff including ophthalmic research nurses, administrators and technicians.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as the lead in management and delivery of a studies conducted across the research portfolio within the Trust. A key responsibility of this role is to ensure all regulatory approvals are submitted, in place and maintained by working with the chief investigators and study teams.

The post holder will ensure successful delivery of patient recruitment targets and will be responsible for the studies running in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The post holder will be responsible for a team of research managers, study coordinators and clinical trials assistants within the administration department.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post holder will act as the lead in management and delivery of a studies conducted across the research portfolio within the Trust.

Experience in study coordination, preferably the central coordination of multi-centre studies

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria

Ability to co-ordinate multiple research sites with considerable degree of independence

Education Qualification and Training

Essential criteria

Degree or equivalent level qualification in biological science, social science or other relevant subject (including nursing and health care disciplines) or equivalent experience
