Overview
E17 is a 10-bedded ward specialising in Paediatric Renal and Urology. It is part of Nottingham Children’s Hospital, the first Children’s Hospital in Europe to be accredited the Pathway to Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Centre.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team on the ward with excellent organizational and clinical skills; deputise and support the Ward Manager.
* Coordinate patient care on the ward; ensure high quality, evidence-based care in collaboration with the Ward Manager.
* Identify common issues affecting quality of care and devise clear action plans; evaluate patient processes and pathways to ensure satisfactory patient experience.
* Support clinical audit in line with Trust requirements to improve practice; maintain accurate records and documentation.
* Act as a point of contact for patients, visitors, relatives and staff; communicate patients’ views clearly to the team.
* Assist in developing and managing work rosters to ensure safe staff coverage; manage resources and budgets where applicable.
* Contribute to risk assessments and governance, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
* Support staff, including students and junior colleagues, through mentorship, teaching, and quality placements.
* Engage in self-development and leadership development; share best practices within the directorate, division, and Trust.
Qualifications and requirements
* RSCN or RN Child qualification with substantial experience in a Children’s Hospital setting as a Band 5 or Band 6 nurse.
* Ability to lead a ward on a daily basis and manage shifts; experience of daily ward operations in a pediatric setting.
