The role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Town Planner to join our development team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Team Leader Planning East, you will assess Development Applications and Subdivision Certificates, provide expert planning advice, and prepare high-quality assessment reports within nominated timeframes.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Assess Development Applications and Subdivision Certificates in line with relevant legislation and Council policies
* Prepare detailed assessment reports and recommendations
* Attend and present matters to the Local Planning Panel where required
* Provide advice to applicants, consultants and members of the public
* Coordinate referrals and comments from internal and external stakeholders
* Undertake site inspections and investigations
* Prepare statements of evidence and attend the Land and Environment Court as required
* Support team initiatives, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
You will have
* Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated experience as a Development Assessment Officer or Town Planner
* Strong knowledge of relevant planning legislation and statutory controls
* Excellent report writing and analytical skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory timeframes
* Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills
* A current Class C Driver’s Licence
* Postgraduate qualifications or experience in a related discipline (Building, Planning or Engineering)
* Knowledge of the NCC (Class 1–10 buildings)
* Previous Local Government experience
The salary for this opportunity starts at $93,583.74 (Grade G, Step 1) plus 12% super.
