Overview

Job title: Principal Associate
Department: Business Services – Commercial
Employer: Higgs LLP

We act for businesses from start-up to sale. We take time to get to know our clients so that we can give a true personal service delivering the right solutions based on individual needs. We are looking for an experienced solicitor to work within and grow our commercial offering which forms part of the wider Business Services Department. The team handles a varied non-contentious workload for owner managed businesses and corporates. We are looking for a genuinely “commercial” lawyer who can provide real advice and add value to our clients, who see us as an extension of their business teams. Collaboration and key relationships are our focus and we are genuinely invested in our clients to provide a bespoke service. This is an important appointment as we are looking for this individual to play a pivotal role in growth and further expansion. A team player that can work in a collaborative and progressive environment.


Responsibilities

* Provide excellent technical and commercial advice on complex matters.
* Articulate the commercial team’s offering and engage with the firm’s existing and prospective clients on the benefits of a proactive relationship.
* Lead significant Business Development activity for self, department and firm with the ability to develop a client Business Development plan and drive the team to deliver it.
* Develop a strong profile, network and established reputation within the business community.
* Build rapport with business owners and clients’ key decision makers to become a trusted adviser.
* Demonstrate personal effectiveness and self-management.
* Maintain good, user-friendly communication and adapt style to clients and team members.
* Demonstrate strong organisational skills.
* Quickly build confidence and trust, with emphasis on managing, supporting and developing the team.


Qualifications

* Strong technical and commercial advice capabilities on complex matters.
* Ability to articulate the offering of the commercial team and engage with clients on proactive relationship benefits.
* Significant Business Development activity with ability to develop and execute a client BD plan.
* Strong profile, network and established reputation within the business community.
* Desire to build long-term relationships with business owners and key decision makers as a trusted adviser.
* Personal effectiveness and self-management.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to different clients and team members.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Ability to lead and support the team and foster collaboration.

* Rounded general non-contentious commercial experience with an appetite to work with a broad client base with varied advisory needs.
