Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work with children who display challenging behaviour, with a strong focus on supporting emotional regulation and successful reintegration into the classroom. This role is based in a primary school in Willenhall and would suit someone with experience supporting pupils with trauma, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
The role involves a combination of 1:1 behaviour support and in-class assistance, helping pupils engage positively with learning, routines, and peer interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing 1:1 support for pupils with attachment, trauma, and behavioural needs, supporting their reintegration into classroom learning.
Offering general classroom support during lessons, helping pupils remain focused, regulated, and engaged.
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation strategies, using structured interventions where appropriate.
Using Emotion Coaching approaches (such as ELSA or similar) to develop pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
Adapting learning and support strategies to meet individual needs across the primary age range.
Providing support during transitions, breaktimes, and lunchtimes to promote positive behaviour and social interaction.
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement consistent behaviour strategies and support plans.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEND, ADHD, attachment difficulties, and trauma-related needs.
Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable).
Background in behaviour mentoring, pastoral support, or primary classroom support.
Knowledge of Emotion Coaching, Zones of Regulation, or similar behaviour frameworks.
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships and promote positive engagement in learning.
