The Role
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Pipe Fitter to join our workshop team in Ossett. The role involves the installation, assembly and testing of mechanical pipework systems within generator enclosures and associated plant equipment.
This is a heavy engineering environment working on technically complex projects where accuracy, safety and workmanship are critical.
Key Responsibilities
* Install and assemble mechanical pipework systems including fuel, exhaust, cooling water and ancillary systems
* Read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs and general arrangement drawings
* Measure, cut, thread and prepare carbon steel and stainless steel pipework
* Fit valves, pumps, flanges and associated mechanical components
* Align and secure pipe systems to tight tolerances
* Support pressure testing and system integrity checks
* Carry out small fabrication and tack welding tasks where required
* Work safely with lifting equipment including overhead cranes and forklifts
* Maintain high standards of quality and efficiency
* Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures
* Maintain good housekeeping standards in the workshop
* Support occasional site installation work and overtime when required
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Pipe Fitter in heavy industrial or engineering environments
* Strong ability to read and interpret isometric and technical drawings
* Experience working with carbon and stainless steel pipework
* Knowledge of flanged systems, valves and pump installations
* Welding or tack welding ability (advantageous)
* Engineering qualification (advantageous but not essential)
* Flexible attitude towards overtime and occasional site work
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
* Good safety awareness and team-focused mindset
