Overview
Provide clinical expertise and leadership to an adult community mental health team, including assessment, management and supervision of junior staff. Engage in service planning, audit, teaching and comply with health board policies.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessment and clinical management of adult patients in the community.
* Supervise, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff in accordance with personnel policies.
* Ensure staff compliance with the New Deal and Working Time Directive.
* Record clinical activity accurately and submit to the Information Department.
* Participate in service and business planning and annual appraisal processes.
* Attend academic programmes, lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD Programme.
* Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and comply with the Mental Health Act and Welsh Measure.
Person Specification – Essential
* Full GMC Registration.
* MRCPsych or equivalent.
* Approved Clinician Approval.
* Comprehensive training and experience in psychiatry.
* Higher training experience in psychiatry.
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance.
* Evidence of undertaking audit relevant to speciality.
* Management and Administration experience.
* Ability to supervise staff effectively.
* Evidence of delivering multidisciplinary and postgraduate teaching.
* Proven capability to initiate and undertake original work.
* Evidence of service-wide audit with impact on practice.
* Evidence of original and relevant research in speciality.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Additional relevant postgraduate qualification.
* Relevant clinical qualification.
* Welsh Clinician approval.
* Experience of Acting as Responsible Clinician.
* Experience of Appraising Staff.
* Evidence of formal Management Training.
* Evidence of teaching medical students.
