Location - Vaughan, ON
Your role within the team
1. Conduct on-site asphalt sampling using the Quarter Master method, label and deliver paving materials such as loose mix asphalt, tack coat, PGAC, and granular materials for quality testing.
2. Apply knowledge of MTO policies, standards, specifications, sample lot system, bagging, and tagging procedures.
3. Check asphalt compaction using Nuclear Densometer, perform aggregate sampling, and conduct compaction tests as per MTO standards.
4. Perform coring on freshly paved asphalt, bag and tag samples, and transport to labs. Conduct on-site concrete testing for temperature, air, slump, and cylinder casting according to OPSS and CCIL standards.
5. Monitor paving operations, verify material application, temperatures, lift thickness, surface quality, and report concerns.
6. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, complete tasks within deadlines, and compile reports and forms.
7. Coordinate with team members, subcontractors, clients, and agencies. Train staff on sampling and testing procedures.

The ideal candidate
* Post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or related fields.
* At least 3 years of experience on MTO and municipal projects, with CCIL/CSA certification to test concrete. Certification as a C.E.T or equivalent is an asset.
* Experience with engineering/construction, reading CGS and MTO drawings and specs.
* Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
* Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and travel as needed. Proficiency in MS Office.
