Florence House, a 5‑bedded Mother and Baby Unit, seeks a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse to join our team.
Unit Description
The unit provides high‑quality care and treatment for pregnant and post‑natal women experiencing mental health difficulties. Babies are admitted with their mothers to build and maintain the mother‑infant relationship.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high‑standard nursing care as part of a multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) to women and their babies.
* Conduct thorough assessments of risk, formulate safe and effective risk‑management plans, and document clinical interventions.
* Collaborate with MDT to deliver therapeutic and diverse interventions, including teaching and supervision.
* Complete a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course as a condition of employment.
* Engage in regular clinical teaching and supervision under the preceptorship programme.
Assumed Conditions & Training
* Newly qualified nurses may join via our comprehensive Preceptorship Programme.
* Successful candidates must hold or be awaiting a valid NMC PIN.
Qualifications & Experience
* Preferable: experience working within an acute psychiatric setting.
* Good working knowledge of child and adult safeguarding is essential.
* Excellent clinical skills with the ability to assess risk and develop safe management plans.
* Enthusiastic, caring, good team player with a warm and friendly disposition.
* Experience working with women with mental health difficulties and children is preferred but not essential.
* Must be able to work in a demanding and stressful environment outside of comfort zone.
Eligibility
* Applicants requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible.
