Up to Hours per week (Permanent)

We are looking to recruit within the outpatients services which are provided in Main Outpatients, Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre and Scott Suite.

We provide outpatient care for numerous specialties including ENT, surgery, oncology, dermatology amongst others.

Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
Care certificate
Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion of
competency workbook equivalent
to Level 3 in a range of patient and
clinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge and
experience in a range of clinical
care duties equivalent to Level 3;
- Theoretical knowledge
- Experience of a range of
care and related procedures
- clinical observations
- knowledge of relevant
legislation

There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.

Main duties of the job

Opportunities exist to develop your knowledge and skills which will enable the post holder to work across several specialties delivering high standards of care to patients

The post holder must have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and be able to work effectively as part of a team

Previous experience of working within an outpatient department would be an advantage.

Qualifications (Band 3)

Essential criteria

1. Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3. -Theoretical knowledge -Experience of a range of care and related procedures -clinical observations -knowledge of relevant legislation
2. Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE A-C/4-9 or Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (

Essential criteria

4. Excellent interpersonal, communication and active listening skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication. (Band 2 & 3)
5. Time-keeping, planning and prioritisation skills (Band 2 & 3)
6. Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems (Band 3)
7. Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems to update basic patient information from personal care and associated activity (Band 2)
8. Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation (Band 3)

Experience (Band 3)

Essential criteria

9. Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings
10. Experience of working in health or social care.

Experience (Band 2)

Desirable criteria

11. Experience of working in a care role.
