Specialist Dietitian - Paediatrics

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Paediatric Team at Worthing Hospital, providing specialist paediatric care to a varied caseload, including general clinics, inpatient ward cover, and a small caseload of home enterally fed patients.
The vacancy is for 22.5 hours per week (0.6 WTE).
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist paediatric care across general clinics, inpatient ward cover, and home enterally fed patients.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings such as discharge meetings and case conferences.
- Educate and supervise junior doctors, health visitors, student dietitians, and other health professionals.
- Participate in departmental projects, service improvements, audits, research, and continuing professional development activities.

Job responsibilities
- General dietetic‑led paediatric clinics and group education sessions.
- Paediatric home enteral feeding service; collaborate with the Paediatric Team to manage the department’s caseload of HEF patients and provide in‑reach onto the ward as needed.
- Participate in supervision of student dietitians on clinical placement.
- Support supervision of band 5 dietitians and dietetic support workers.
- Cover clinical workload of other dietitians, e.g. during annual leave.
- Undertake normal activities of the department MDT working, projects, meetings, service developments, audits & research, CPD, developing resources, training other health professionals, and lead or participate in national awareness events.

Experience/Qualifications
- Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
- Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration – dietitian
- Experience of working in paediatric dietetics
- Relevant other training or qualification (or working towards), e.g. Masters, second relevant degree, leadership course
- Member of BDA or other body conferring professional insurance – full
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
Skills
- Good communication skills in a range of formats and settings – written, teaching, involving carers, MDT working, patients with communication problems, etc.
- Managing patients with complex needs – high medical complexity, MDT working
- Ability to work as a team member including within an MDT
- Experience in the clinical training of student dietitians or other staff
