Position: General Manager - Supermarket & Forecourt Operations

Duration: Permanent
Pay Rate: Up to £80,000 per annum
Hours of work: 40 hours working 5 days out of 7, Monday to Sunday 1- 4 weekends
Ashton Recruitment is recruiting a General Manager / Head of Site Operations for a large, high-volume supermarket and forecourt operation in Moy. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for retail operations, commercial performance, people management, compliance and customer experience across a complex multi-function site.
This position is ideal for an experienced General Manager, Operations Manager, Retail Operations Manager or Head of Retail with a strong background in supermarket, forecourt or multi-revenue site management. With significant investment and planned expansion, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing scalable operational systems to support future store openings.
Responsibilities
1. Full accountability for supermarket operations, forecourt operations and business centre management
2. Ownership of P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and margin improvement
3. Ensure full forecourt compliance, including health and safety, environmental standards and fuel regulations
4. Lead all retail operations, driving operational excellence and consistency across departments
5. Manage and develop a large multi-site style workforce, including recruitment, performance management and succession planning
6. Deliver outstanding customer experience and service standards across the entire site
7. Maintain strong governance, audit, compliance and risk management processes
8. Oversee supplier, contractor and stakeholder management, ensuring service quality and value
9. Implement process improvements, operational controls and efficiency initiatives
10. Support the Business Owner with strategic planning, KPI reporting and commercial decision-making
11. Prepare the business for growth by developing operational frameworks, systems and talent pipelines
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, Retail Manager or Head of Operations
* Strong background in supermarket retail, forecourt operations or large-scale retail environments
* Demonstrable P&L ownership, commercial acumen and financial management experience
* Experience managing large teams within a fast-paced retail or operational environment
* Strong knowledge of health and safety, compliance and regulatory standards
* Ability to manage multiple revenue streams and complex operational structures
* Hands‑on leader with strong strategic and operational capability
* Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience
