“If you’re the one who reads the flat-pack instructions and neatly lays out all the parts, or your love language is a colour-coded spreadsheet, you’ll feel right at home in this role.”
THE COMPANY
TALO. is working exclusively with a Manchester-based homeware retailer. They’re the kind of business where good ideas are welcomed no matter your job title, and where everyone’s input is genuinely valued. Big enough to offer real career progression, but small enough that you’re never just a number. The office is in Manchester, within walking distance of a train station but if you’re driving there’s free parking available too. They work on a hybrid basis (3 days in the office, 2 from home), with flexible start times between 8am and 10am.
They’re growing their Quality team and have created a new role for a Quality Assurance Assistant. If you’re the sort of person who spots things others miss and takes pride in keeping things organised, you’ll fit right in. You’ll see how products go from design to the shop floor and be part of the team that helps make that happen.
THE ROLE
Sitting within the Product team, you’ll support the Quality team and work closely with Buyers, Merchandisers, Designers, and Suppliers to make sure products are properly tested and meet the right safety and quality standards before launch.
* Working as part of the wider quality team, your job is to support the Quality team with compliance-related admin
* Learning how retail products are made, tested, and approved
* Keeping product files and quality documents up to date and audit-ready
* Organising and gathering product samples ready for testing
* Co-ordinating product checks and sample reviews with suppliers and the wider team
* Completing product assessments
* Logging quality issues and helping to track fixes
* Supporting with quality reports, KPIs, and improvement projects
* Chasing suppliers (UK, EU, and Far East) for samples, info, or follow-ups
ABOUT YOU
You’re a detail orientated person who spots the mistakes others miss. The person who books the holiday after combing through 100s of reviews, colour codes the itinerary and holds all the passports. A natural organiser who reads flat-pack instructions and lays out all the parts first. If that’s you, this role will feel like second nature.
You don’t need to be a quality or compliance expert as training will be provided but you do need to enjoy detailed work - working through documents, examining products, checking specs, updating trackers, and be interested in how things are made.
Although advertised as a Graduate position, you don’t have to be a graduate to apply, you could already be in an admin-focused or retail head office role and be looking to make a switch. Degrees that match this type of job well typically include Engineering, Product Design, Retail Buying and Merchandising, and other product/data focused degrees – but the client is open.
THE REWARD
This is a brilliant role to gain valuable experience in a retail head office. Training and support will be provided which will help you build a career in product quality, consumer safety and sustainability. You’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative team and work closely with Buying, Product Development and Supply Chain teams too.
You will receive a salary of £27,000. This is a hybrid working role (3 days in the office, 2 from home) 9am – 5pm with flexible working hours (start times between 8am - 10am available), and 26 days holiday plus bank holidays. The office is in Manchester, within walking distance of a train station but if you’re driving there’s free parking available too.
