Group Support Volunteer - Omagh area - Wednesday morning
Would you like to do something amazing for people living with Dementia in your local area?If the answer is yes then, Dementia NI would love your support!Volunteer within our Omagh Empowerment group as a group support volunteer.
As a group support volunteer, you will be a be a welcoming and friendly helper, and an extra pair of hands, within our Empowerment group supporting our members, who live with dementia, to be comfortably involved in the group sessions.
Skills/experience required
* Friendly, positive, and approachable
* Ability to be empathetic, patient, and calm
* Committed to upholding members confidentiality
* Interest in learning more about dementia
* Good time keeping and reliable
Tasks
* Help the group Facilitator set up the room prior to members arriving and to tidy up after the session
* Put up and remove Dementia NI signs throughout the venue
* Welcome and reassure members upon arrival
* Help members navigate around venues including escorting members to and from their transport
* Serve refreshments - making and serving tea and coffee
* Chat to members, get to know them and support them to settle into the group
* Supporting members to engage with group discussions or activities
Time commitment
This role is suitable for someone with free time during the day and ideally be in a position to support one group per month.
Location
The Omagh group meet fortnightly on a Wednesday morning from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
This role is subject to an enhanced level ACCESS NI check. This role qualifies for mileage expenses as agreed with your Volunteer Coordinator.
