Job summary: As Communications Officer you will work with the Communications Team to raise the profile of DHCW and contribute to the successful delivery of the communications strategy and communications plan. The post holder will be required to support both internal and external communications activities.


Main duties of the job

As Communications Officer you will:

* Support the organising of DHCW events with the senior communications officer and support teams within DHCW to register for external events.
* Support the Senior Communications Officers to manage digital content.
* Provide professional communication advice on promotional materials and content.
* Support the Senior Communications Officers in the delivery of the digital communications strategy and support delivery of a forward-thinking, modern digital communications function for our organisation.
* The Communications Officer works under the general direction of the Senior Communications Officer but is expected to manage their tasks independently and with autonomy, seeking guidance and support when necessary.

We work in partnership with NHS Wales colleagues and other key stakeholders to provide national digital and data services which support the delivery of health and social care in Wales. Modern health and care services depend on good digital tools, data and information. In addition, DHCW provides expert advice in relation to cyber security and information governance. We give frontline staff the digital tools which help them provide safer and more efficient care. Job responsibilities

As Communications Officer you will:

* Monitor and manage the team's inbox and respond in a timely manner.
* Be adept at writing clear, engaging and creative copy for all our channels with support from the team and make independent choices on the best communication channels to issue comms.
* Influence and persuade committees and staff on appropriate communication approaches.
* Prioritise work according to business objectives and the current narrative.
* Take a proactive approach to staying ahead of digital trends and technologies.
* Manage, maintain and keep the stakeholder list up to date.


Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential:

* Educated to Degree Level or appropriate Professional Qualification or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of further development/education/training

Desirable:

* Recognised/relevant professional qualification (Journalistic/PR/)


Experience

Essential:

* Evidence of relevant experience in a creative writing environment.
* Experience of working in a PR/Communications environment.

Desirable:

* Experience of working on health-related campaigns.
* Ability to speak Welsh.


Skills and Attributes

Essential:

* Digital skills in video, photography, Canva, Adobe, and Mura.
* Demonstrate innovative and creative thinking.

Desirable:

* Excellent planning, prioritising and organising skills.
