Employment Plus Operations Manager
About the Opportunity
We’re growing our new Employment Plus consultancy team and are looking for a proactive and highly organised Operations Manager to play a key role in its success.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a visible and impactful position, where you’ll shape how the team operates day-to-day, ensuring client work runs smoothly, processes are efficient, and commercial objectives are achieved.
Working closely with the Partner who heads up Employment Plus, you’ll act as the operational backbone of the practice, bringing structure, insight and continuous improvement to everything we do.
Please note: This role can be based in any UK office but requires regular (weekly) travel to our Manchester office.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be at the heart of the team, making sure everything runs seamlessly - from managing workflows to supporting client delivery and driving operational improvements.
Leading Day-to-Day Operations
Oversee the smooth running of the Employment Plus team Acting as the lead contact for our self-employed Employment Plus Consultants Balance workloads and ensure resources are used effectivelyKeep client projects on track and delivered to agreed timelinesProactively identify and resolve challenges or bottlenecksContinuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and performanceTake ownership of triaging the investigations streamSupporting Client Delivery & Contracts
Oversee client contracts, renewals and key commitmentsManage external consultant onboarding and contractsEnsure documentation is accurate, current and compliantTrack key milestones and support high-quality client service deliveryDriving Financial Performance
Ensure invoicing is accurate, timely and well-managedMonitor WIP, revenue and billing performanceWork closely with Finance to resolve queries and improve cash collectionProvide clear, insightful reporting to support decision-makingContributing to Business Growth
Partner with Business Development teams to identify cross-selling opportunitiesHelp maintain a strong pipeline and re-engage dormant clientsSupport proposals, sales discussions and BD initiativesDevelop and organise compelling business development materialsSupporting and Developing the Team
Help the team stay focused, organised and aligned on prioritiesSupport recruitment, onboarding and training activitiesContribute to performance and development conversationsFoster a collaborative, positive and high-performing cultureEnsuring Compliance and Continuous Improvement
Ensure operations meet firm policies and regulatory standardsIdentify and manage risks, escalating where neededConduct IR35 reviews for external consultantsLead on improving systems, processes and ways of workingSupport implementation of new tools and technologiesProject Work
Take the lead on ad-hoc operational or business improvement projectsWhat We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
Experience in an operations, practice management, project or business management roleProven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong organisational skills with excellent attention to detailCommercial awareness, including financial processes and performance trackingConfident stakeholder management and communication skillsExperience in a law firm, consultancy or professional services environmentStrong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and practice management systemsDesirable
Experience with client contracts and invoicing processesLine management or team leadership experienceTrack record of improving processes or driving operational changeWhat Success Looks Like
