Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) is recruiting a Young Futures Development Manager to join our team and play a key role in shaping youth services across the city.
Leeds is one of eight areas selected as early adopters of the Young Futures Programme, sponsored by the Department for Media, Culture and Sport. In Leeds, the programme is being delivered through a collaborative, partnership‑led approach, working closely with the third sector, statutory partners, and young people to ensure meaningful and effective implementation.
This new role presents an exciting opportunity for a strategic, creative, and passionate individual to implement and support key recommendations from the youth work review. Working as part of the Young Futures team, you will help connect and align different work strands to support a joined‑up, holistic approach to delivery across the city.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring excellent communication and written skills, alongside a strong understanding of governance and strategy. You will be able to listen to, represent, and balance the needs and voices of a wide and diverse range of stakeholders.
You will be confident in thinking innovatively, navigating political or challenging conversations, and working collaboratively with young people and the third sector.

Hours: 22.2 hours per week (37 FTE)
Holidays: 28 days annual + 11 days statutory (pro rata)

The role will also involve some travel to meetings, partnership activities, and networking events, which may take place away from the office.
VAL is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we actively work to create an anti‑racist environment. Join us in shaping a workplace where every voice is valued and respected.
