JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director, Admissions will work with the admissions team to further WPI's efforts to attract and enroll the most qualified undergraduate students. This role develops and implements strategies to convey key institutional messages to prospective students and parents on and off campus. They cultivate professional relationships with school counselors and key educational organizations. Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, this person will aid the team and manage projects associated with enrollment marketing and communications.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the recruitment of the incoming first-year undergraduate enrollment class by developing and executing a strategic recruitment plan for an assigned geographic territory aligned with university and departmental goals, including up to six weeks of fall travel and up to three weeks of spring travel.
2. Gather and analyze data from recruitment activities and report outcomes.
3. Advise prospective students, families, and counselors through email, phone, virtual meetings, and in-person conversations.
4. Build and maintain relationships with counselors, community organizations, alumni, faculty, and staff.
5. Deliver presentations on campus, off campus, and virtually to communicate the WPI experience and academic offerings.
6. Represent WPI at conferences, school visits, and other recruitment events.
7. Assist in the selection of the incoming first-year undergraduate class by reviewing and evaluating admissions applications from an assigned geographic territory.
8. Participate in shared decision making as part of the committee review process.
9. Counsel applicants, parents/guardians, and counselors on the application process, admissions decisions, and academic merit scholarships.
10. Assist in the enrollment of the incoming first-year undergraduate class by advising admitted students and families and providing timely communication via email, phone, and in-person conversations.
11. Cultivate relationships with counselors, community organizations, alumni, faculty, and staff to support enrollment decision making.
12. Represent WPI at enrollment and yield events and communicate the value of the WPI experience to admitted students and families.
13. Serve as a liaison to internal campus partners and external stakeholders to achieve university goals.
14. Manage coordination and completion of recruitment and enrollment projects in support of departmental objectives, including managing peer-to-peer engagement strategy (including engagement on the Discord platform for admitted students).
15. Coordinate social media plan in concert with university channels.
16. Manage university presence and messaging on third-party college counseling platforms, including SCOIR.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
17. Bachelor’s degree.
18. Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field.
