Summary: We’re looking for a driven and experienced People Manager reporting to the Head of People to support our SailGP Technologies team across the full employee lifecycle from onboarding and development to engagement and offboarding. This role blends hands-on operational HR responsibilities with some strategic input, requiring strong collaboration with the Head of People, Director of SailGP Technologies, and the Business Operations Manager. You’ll act as a trusted partner to the team, helping shape and implement people-focused initiatives that support performance, growth, and culture. Additionally, you will take ownership of key People projects, driving continuous improvement and ensuring best-in-class employee experiences within a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment. Be the first point of contact, for all general People related queries. Operate as a trusted advisor to Team leaders, providing pragmatic, proactive and viable advice and support and guidance on all aspects of the employment lifecycle. Coach, support and educate managers through poor performance, misconduct and employee issues, including providing expertise, support and advice on process and legislation. Ensure a fair and reasonable process and outcome Create and keep updated on company policies aligning with SailGP HQ. Manage various People operations such as recruitment, contracting, onboarding, off boarding, reward & recognition, and performance management. Ensure an exceptional onboarding experience for all new hires, regularly reviewing and updating the induction process to reflect evolving needs and expectations. Oversee the time and attendance system, ensuring accurate data collection, holiday tracking, and reporting of trends to support operational decisions. Support with collating payroll information working closely with the finance team. Drive the L&D strategy working closing with the wider people team. Work closely with the Tech Team to support training and development for individuals going to a SailGP event. Support with the roll out of the engagement survey alongside the Head of People, ensuring all data is correct and up to date. Work alongside Team Leaders to translate survey results into meaningful action plans that drive continuous improvement. Provide regular feedback and insights to the Head of People on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities across the business. Ensure the efficient management of all People documentation, including contracts, records, and compliance materials. Ensure that health surveillance checks are carried out promptly and that any necessary follow-up actions are implemented effectively. Support the Tech Team with people contracting and people administration. Lead and contribute to a range of People projects that support and align with the overall People Strategy. Help shape and drive the SGPT apprenticeship program. Key Expectations: Champion an inclusive environment where diversity is valued. About You: Extensive experience in People/HR roles, with a proven ability to work independently while contributing collaboratively within a wider People team. Previous experience in a manufacturing or operational environment is highly desirable, with an understanding of the unique People challenges and dynamics in such settings. Detailed understanding of employment legislation and how to practically apply it to effectively manage employee relations. Strong HR administration capabilities paired with exceptional people management skills. Excellent attention to detail with a solid track record in accurate and compliant record-keeping. Proven experience in building strong partnerships and maintaining effective working relationships across various departments. Technologically savvy, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software. Passionate about continuous improvement and innovation in People practices. Confident in working with multiple stakeholders across geographically dispersed sites. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Strong organisational and project management abilities, able to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
