Closing date: 5 th May Interviews 18 th May Forest of Bowland National Landscape The Forest of Bowland AONB was designated in 1964 with the primary purpose to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of 312 square miles of important upland landscape within Lancashire and North Yorkshire. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is designated and protected under the 1949 National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, with protection further enhanced by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. Core Purpose of the Job: The primary purpose of this job is to support the Forest of Bowland National Landscape Partnership through a mixture of ecological advice and delivery of capital nature recovery projects. The post will sit within the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) team and half the time allocated to post will be spent assisting in delivery of the FiPL programme specifically a Wildlife Rich Habitats capital fund. The remaining time will be spent delivering the wider objectives of the statutory Forest of Bowland AONB Management Plan including delivery of capital nature recovery projects. We are looking for an experienced project officer with a strong background in ecology and a desire to see positive outcomes for nature delivered on the ground. We have capital funding secured for Wildlife Rich Habitat improvements and 30x30 projects we need someone who can work with landowners and partners to pull together and deliver a range of practical projects. The successful candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline, with proven experience of project development; working with farmers and land managers to deliver conservation projects and programmes; and ideally a good understanding of current and historic agri-environment schemes. The work will be challenging but you will become part of an enthusiastic and highly motivated team helping to restore nature to one of England's areas of outstanding natural beauty by working in partnership with land owners, local communities and a range of conservation organisations.
