Role Overview: Cambridge City Council is committed to ending rough sleeping in the city. The council has invested significantly in services for rough sleepers, including new accommodation units and an innovative Housing First programme. Despite these efforts, some individuals remain on the streets, especially in the city centre. The key objective of this role is to support these individuals in leaving the streets behind permanently.
About You: The successful candidate will communicate directly and honestly, focusing on individuals with a persistent or recent street presence. They will advise and assist these individuals in accessing accommodation and support services. Additionally, the role involves supporting local businesses and the public affected by street-based anti-social behaviour, and promoting understanding of rough sleeping causes and solutions.
The role is based within the Council's community safety team, reporting to the Senior Anti-Social Behaviour Officer, and working closely with the Housing Advice Partnerships Manager, police, and voluntary agencies. The position requires tact, judgment, firmness, and persistence, offering high job satisfaction by helping some of the city's most marginalized residents. An Enhanced DBS check is required.

This is a full-time, 37-hour per week role. Flexible working patterns can be discussed. The position is based at Mandela House, Cambridge, with outdoor work and occasional weekends or evening shifts.
Contract Details: Fixed term until December 2025.
Salary: GBP 36,124 to GBP 40,476 per annum (City Pay Band 5), pro rata for part-time.
Location: Flexible, on-site or at Cambridge offices, with work location balanced as needed.
