About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly respected company operating within a specialist engineering sector — supporting the bridge between Engineering and Production.
Reporting to the Senior Technician (Production Team Lead), you will play a pivotal role in maintaining quality standards and ensuring the smooth flow of work through Production. You will support prototype builds in a fast-paced R&D environment, with the scope to write SOPs as required.
What You'll Do
Undertake soldering, crimping, mechanical assemblies and cable assemblies to IPC-A-610C company standards
Assemble mechanical and electromechanical components from engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
Carry out prototype wiring, including crimping, cable routing, and harness assembly
Build and modify prototypes in a fast-paced R&D environment
Interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs)
Perform rework and design changes as required during development stages
Conduct basic inspection and testing, ensuring all work meets IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards
Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve build and design issues
Work in accordance with Job Cards, Production/Development drawings, Test Plans, and Technical Instructions
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area What You'll Need
Essential:
Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
Proven experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electromechanical assembly
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics
Skilled in soldering, crimping, and general bench assembly
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Good manual dexterity and practical skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Desirable:
Experience in prototype or R&D environments
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 (training or certification beneficial)
Basic electrical testing knowledge (e.g., multi-meters, continuity testing)
Mechanical assembly experience (fasteners, torque settings, alignment)
Surface mount technology (SMT) experience What's on Offer
