<div><h3>Healthcare Scientist (Neurophysiology)</h3><p><b>The closing date is 15 June 2026</b></p><p>The Clinical Neurophysiology department at Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals) is looking for a part‑or full‑time, fixed‑term, qualified and experienced healthcare scientist (Neurophysiology) to join our friendly team. The post will run from 24 August 2026 until 2 July 2027.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><p>The Clinical Neurophysiology department consists of 6 Consultant Neurophysiologists, 2 Specialist Registrars, 16 Healthcare scientists and 4 Administrators.</p><p>The department provides the following services:</p><ul><li>Outpatient routine, sleep and ambulatory EEGs on adults and paediatrics</li><li>Inpatient portable EEGs on a huge range of wards and ages</li><li>Adult video EEG telemetry</li><li>Paediatric video EEG telemetry</li><li>Home video telemetry</li><li>Pre‑operative/diagnostic/prognostic somatosensory evoked potentials</li><li>Intraoperative monitoring</li></ul><p>The successful candidate should be able to perform all forms of outpatient/inpatient EEGs and upper limb NCS independently and have experience in other modalities.</p><p>Candidates should have BSc Honours Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent e.g. STP, MSc, and/or ANS Part 1 with relevant experience and AHCS or HCPC registration.</p><p>For any queries please contact the Lead Healthcare scientists/service managers, Rebecca Chiripanyanga or Gareth Thomas on 01223 216738 or r.chiripanyanga@nhs.net, gareth.thomas24@nhs.net.</p><h3>About us</h3><p><b>Our Trust</b></p><p>Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust comprises Addenbrookes Hospital and the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge. We welcome applications for all positions in the organisation irrespective of peoples age, disability, ethnicity, race, nationality, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marriage and civil partnership status, or pregnancy and maternity status or social economic background.</p><h3>Job responsibilities</h3><p>Please see the attached Applicant Information Pack (combined Job Description and Person Specification) for key duties and responsibilities.</p><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>BSc Honours Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training (Other appropriate qualifications e.g. PTP/STP/BTEC HND/C in MPPM/or equivalent experience and professional exam ANS Part 1) plus knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Appropriate experience in Neurophysiology</li><li>Practical experience and familiarity with the range of basic and advanced neurophysiological investigations.</li><li>Experience of intra‑operative monitoring</li><li>Experience of paediatric and adult telemetry</li><li>Experience of Home video telemetry</li></ul><h3>Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Uses of neurophysiology investigation</li><li>Technical difficulties in ICU and theatre</li><li>Polite and calm under pressure</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><ul><li>Undertakes a wide range of complex, specialised techniques including all EEG types, Evoked potentials, NCS +/- Telemetry/IOM</li><li>Is able to gain the co‑operation of all client groups i.e. adults, children and neonates including those with learning difficulties, mental health problems or other special needs to obtain a technically good and accurate investigation.</li><li>Able to interpret investigation results and patient conditions</li><li>Have empathy, understand patient needs, be sympathetic and tactful.</li><li>Able to obtain technically acceptable recordings in all environments including technically challenging situations e.g. intensive care and theatre</li><li>Has the manual dexterity to apply accurately babies and children who are less co‑operative</li><li>Uses professional knowledge and skill to appropriately use activation procedures when clinically safe to do so and with regard to department policies.</li><li>Has knowledge and skill to refer to medical staff when clinical intervention is required.</li><li>Experience of taking responsibility for workload planning on a day to day basis.</li><li>Negotiates and liaises with other professionals, staff and patients</li><li>Works on own initiative to prioritise workload</li><li>Supervision of students.</li></ul><h3>Additional requirements</h3><ul><li>The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.</li><li>Empathy</li><li>Sensitive understanding of children and adults who may be suffering from a wide range of medical disorders including those of a neurological and psychiatric nature</li><li>Exposure to unpleasant conditions such as body odours, body fluids, aggression (verbal and occasionally physical)</li><li>Physically able to push equipment or patients in beds or chairs</li><li>Flexibility of hours – may need to stay late for patients.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.</p><p>Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust</p><p>£49,387 to £56,515 a yearPer Annum pro rata</p></div>
