Job Title: Market Intelligence Lead

Location: Rosyth, Fife

Compensation: Competitive + Benefits

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Role ID: SF73057

Shape the intelligence that drives global energy and marine markets

At Babcock, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together.

If you join us, you can play your part as a Market Intelligence Lead at Rosyth, near Dunfermline, Fife.

Working at the heart of our Growth directorate, this role offers a rare opportunity to shape how a major international engineering organisation understands its markets, invests in the right technologies, and makes confident, evidence based decisions in fast moving global environments.

The role

As a Market Intelligence Lead, you'll take ownership of a newly created capability that sits at the intersection of strategy, technology, and commercial decision making. This is not a traditional reporting role – it's a high impact leadership position where your insight will directly influence investment choices, bid strategies, and long term growth across complex, capital intensive markets.

You'll connect external market signals, customer behaviour, competitive dynamics, and commercial economics, translating complexity into clarity for senior leaders. In doing so, you'll play a vital role in keeping Babcock at the forefront of global energy and marine sectors – while accelerating your own professional growth in a highly visible, strategic leadership role.

Day-to-day, you'll have the following responsibilities:

* Building and owning Babcock's market intelligence capability, embedding insight into growth, technology, and investment decisions
* Tracking global markets, competitors, and customer trends to provide live, actionable intelligence
* Developing financial and economic models that support bids, customer engagement, and technology investment choices
* Leading scenario planning and strategic foresight activities, translating external signals into clear strategic options
* Briefing senior stakeholders with concise, evidence based insights that shape commercial strategy and resource allocation

This is a 37 hour per week, permanent role based at Rosyth, working Monday to Friday with an onsite presence of three days per week. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Essential experience

* Proven experience in market strategy, market intelligence, commercial economics, management consulting, or financial analysis within complex or technology led industries
* Strong capability in building and communicating financial or economic models that influence senior decision making
* Experience translating market, competitor, and customer insight into practical strategic recommendations
* A track record of working closely with technical, engineering, or product teams to shape investment and prioritisation decisions
* Confidence influencing senior stakeholders through structured, evidence based insight.

Qualifications

* Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business, Strategy, or a related analytical discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
* Strong grounding in commercial economics, financial modelling, or strategic analysis
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear business insight

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain BPSS clearance for this role.

Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
