We are recruiting for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) positions with the Wiltshire, Swindon, and BaNES Talking Therapies services, within the AWP Mental Health Trust. Our team has recently been recognized as AWP's "Team of the Year" at the annual awards ceremony.
The post-holder will work within the Talking Therapies service providing high-volume, low-intensity interventions while undertaking training for this role. The training will equip the post-holder to deliver a range of low-intensity cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
The training will start on Tuesday 9th September 2025; however, the in-service start date will be Monday 8th September 2025 at the latest. Please see the attached training dates document. Applicants must be able to commit to all dates.
This role involves two days per week of teaching, held remotely or at the University of Exeter, to study for a PGCert and a degree level 6 qualification in Psychological Therapies Practice (Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), with three days of low-intensity clinical practice based in Swindon, Devizes, Salisbury, or Bath.
Salary: Initially, you will be paid at Band 4. Following training completion and successful qualification, you can progress to a Band 5 Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) position.
Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in NHS Talking Therapies services support individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems. This role offers a valuable opportunity to improve many people's wellbeing and develop a career in NHS mental health services. As an entry-level training role, it is open to a wide range of candidates, and we especially welcome applications from diverse backgrounds.
Study: The PWP training program comprises 45 days, with 30 delivered at the University of Exeter (or online) and 15 as structured university learning days that can be completed outside the university setting.
Other: You must be willing and able to travel within the locality and to locations outside the organization.
