My client based in Worcester (WR4) is looking to recruit a Lab Technician on a Temp to Perm basis. You role will be to support the Production, Testing and characterization of metallic alloys, responsible for preparing alloys using in-house metallurgic equipment. As well as operating equipment, you will be asked to create reports on the findings. The main functions of the role include- Operating microstructural sample preparation and characterization equipment along chemical analysis and particle size measurements- Maintain and calibrate sample preparation and characterization equipment- Communicate with engineers to understand their needs- Report writing on metallurgical investigationsAs a suitable candidate you will offer the following- Strong attention to detail- excellent communication skills- Good IT skills especially MS Office- Adaptable and flexible- Ideally qualified in materials science, preferable metallurgy- previous experience in a similar role- experience with sample preparation including cutting, polishing, etching, microscopy- experience of examining metallurgical samples including image analysis- experience of particle size analysis techniques and chemical analysis techniques- knowledge of different alloy systems including nickel super alloys, titanium and aluminum- knowledge of alloy heat treatment- knowledge of mechanical testing, creep, tension, hardness, toughness, etc.,This role is 37.5 hours per week with a degree of flexibility for the working hours and ...
