Summary of the Site
Cygnet Harrow is a 5‑ward hospital, based in one of the most beautiful areas in London. We have a variety of different wards, including two highly specialised male ASD wards, and acute services. We have a designated qualified OT for each service line as well as OTAs and Activity Coordinators supporting the activities on the wards.
Responsibilities
We are currently looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet. You will mainly be working on the male rehabilitation wards but there will be some crossover and opportunity for rotation to the acute ward as you progress within the role. The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in‑house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.
Multidisciplinary Team
The team consists of nurses, psychologists, psychology assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, social workers, speech and language therapists, and psychiatrists as well as 24/7 support from the nursing team. This means that we are able to meet the changing needs of our service users as they progress through their care pathway, while ensuring their safety is maintained and their independence supported.
Preceptorship & Induction
Starting a new job can be daunting, which is why we have a robust induction process that enables you to shadow staff, discuss your learning and receive expert support to develop into your role. We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant preceptorship programme in your first 12 months to support and consolidate core skills. We also offer regular, virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking with other OT Assistants in your service line.
5 reasons why you should make an application today

4. Dedicated CPD time being part of a national network of over 150 OTs in the Cygnet Group within different specialisms including Forensic Practice, LD and ASD, Acute mental health, and PICU.
