Supervising Social Worker at Fair Ways
Join Fair Ways, a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent that delivers fostering, education, residential and family services and cares for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year.
Where and when do we need you?
Fair Ways is looking to recruit a supervising social worker to join our dedicated fostering team. The team has small caseloads, allowing relationship‑based work and quick response to needs.
As a Supervising Social Worker you will be responsible for:
* Providing dedicated supervision and support – supervising and developing foster carers, identifying areas for professional development.
* Undertaking fair and detailed assessments – carrying out fostering and parenting assessments and presenting completed assessments to the Independent Fostering Panels.
* Ensuring accurate reporting and recording – maintaining case records, writing reports as directed, and communicating with external agencies.
* Undertaking visits and providing quality supervision – carrying out monitoring visits with young people and supervising all carers on caseload within required timeframes.
* Being a trauma‑informed professional – using RiiSE training to deliver trauma‑informed responses and understanding early life experiences that may lead to challenging behaviour.
* Advocating for children in care – using various methods to explore young people’s wishes and feelings, encouraging their involvement in planning.
* Multi‑agency working – attending and contributing to reviews and care‑planning meetings, supporting carers and placement of young people, advocating where necessary.
* Duty and on‑call support – acting as Duty Social Worker at least one day per week, and being available for emergency out‑of‑hours service, including weekends and evenings.
All candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a car. Successful candidates must provide an enhanced DBS disclosure, the cost of which will be met by Fair Ways.
