HSDU Technician (Band 2)
An interesting and exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals with a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety to join the team within the Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU). We provide operating theatres, wards, and departments with surgical instruments and medical devices required for sterile procedures. This role supports clinical and surgical teams in delivering excellent, high-quality, and safe patient care.
Hours of posts: 37.5 hours per week - part-time considered.
Working Pattern:
* Monday - Friday, 2pm to 10pm
The role may require some flexibility with cross-site working between the Trust’s two acute hospitals: Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital. The ability to travel independently between sites is required.
We seek applicants who demonstrate good manual dexterity, high attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels. Enthusiasm, a good general education, and the ability to follow instructions and processes are essential. Experience in Sterile Services is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will become proficient in providing quality sterilised goods to internal and external customers through training. An adaptable, flexible approach to work and the ability to work well both independently and within a team are important.
Our services are primarily delivered from Conquest Hospital in Hastings and Eastbourne District General Hospital. Both hospitals operate 24-hour Emergency Departments and offer a wide range of surgical, medical, and maternity services, supported by diagnostic and therapy services. Community services are provided throughout East Sussex in patients' homes, clinics, and GP surgeries.
We are proud to provide 'Outstanding' care and be a great place to work.
We deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to over half a million residents and visitors in East Sussex. As one of the largest organizations in the region, we offer integrated acute and community care with over 7,000 staff across hospitals, community hospitals, clinics, and homes.
In 2020, the Care Quality Commission rated us as 'Good' overall, with 'Outstanding' ratings for being caring and effective. Our hospitals and community services have received high praise for quality and care.
Our 'Building for our Future' programme aims to repair, redevelop, and expand our hospitals, transforming care environments for future generations.
