SEN Teaching Assistant – Worthing
Location: Worthing
Salary: £90 – £95 per day
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential part in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning and develop independence. Working closely with class teachers and SEN professionals, you’ll provide individualised support, deliver interventions, and assist in creating a calm and encouraging atmosphere where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs.

* Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and differentiated learning activities.

* Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development through consistent engagement and encouragement.

* Help to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and record progress where appropriate.

* Assist with personal care needs when required, ensuring dignity and sensitivity at all times.

* Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and participation.

Qualifications and Skills

* Experience working with children or young people with SEN, autism, or complex needs (school-based or care background welcomed).

* Strong understanding of child development, behaviour support, and communication strategies.

* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow teacher or therapist guidance.

* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children’s individual needs.

* Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete all relevant safer recruitment checks.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
