Job Description Fabricator/Welder Dry Dock Location: Cornwall Full-Time | Permanent Monday Friday, 07:45 16:30 (37.5 hours/week) £16.00 per hour £31,200 per annum Reports to: Foreman Job Purpose The FW is responsible for carrying out a wide range of fabrication, and welding, work to an agreed programme of work when ships come in for refurbishment or when new ships are built. Knowledge Skills and Experiences Knowledge Fabrication and welding within a marine environment Working with a small team to ensure project plans are completed on time, on budget and to a high standard Skills Work planning skills to ensure the fabrication/welding work required is completed to a high standard Experience Some previous fabrication and/or welding post the achievement of the NVQ3 required Qualifications A minimum of an NVQ3 qualification in fabrication and/or welding Key Role Requirements The ability to fabricate parts as/when required within the scope of the planned work on a ship in the dry dock The ability to weld to a high standard using a range of welding techniques The ability to work to, and meet, deadlines and to work well in a team environment The ability to contribute to technical discussions and to generate new ideas, if needed, regarding how work should be completed A strong focus on safety in all aspects of the fabrication/welding work that is carried out Budgetary Responsibility No direct budgetary responsibility in the role. Outputs The completion of all fabrication, and welding tasks, required within each project and to the highest possible standard To contribute to technical discussions as/when needed to agree how specific pieces of work will be completed To help train/develop our Engineering Apprentices Interactions The Engineering and Operations Teams The Foreman The General Manager The Storeman to ensure that the FW always has the materials required to complete tasks Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK ADZN1_UKTJ
