Band 8a Advanced Nurse Practitioner Diagnostics NSS & Upper GI pathway
An exciting opportunity to join a newly designed team to deliver nurse‑led diagnostics. You will drive, lead and showcase advanced autonomous nursing practice applying advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in the management of patients referred with a possible diagnosis of cancer.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a comprehensive diagnostic pathway for patients suspected of having cancer and manage patients to the point of diagnosis.
* Lead on the management of a caseload of 2‑week wait (2WW) patients, treatment and follow‑up across health‑care settings.
* Perform non‑invasive endoscopy procedures and develop specialist skills with specialist equipment.
* Train junior staff in diagnostic skills and procedural techniques.
* Provide clinical leadership and support consultants to realise their full potential, ensuring seamless patient care and high‑quality outcomes.
* Innovate, motivate and be a role‑model in clinical pathway redesign within cancer services, including quality improvement and implementation of national initiatives.
* Maintain a professional behaviour, promote a positive image of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and adhere to its values.
Qualifications
* Advanced assessment and diagnostic skills within oncology nursing.
* Experience performing non‑invasive endoscopy procedures (e.g., capsule endoscopy) or related specialist diagnostics.
* Demonstrated leadership and training abilities with multidisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge of national cancer diagnostic pathways and current clinical guidelines.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with oncology, medical and other specialist teams.
