Role and responsibilities
Our volunteers (Navigators) are the first point of contact for patients and visitors at the Main Outpatients entrance. They welcome visitors, help navigate the hospital, and improve the visitor experience. They may sign-post to services such as Patient Advice and Liaison Service and collect feedback through the Friends & Family Test.
Navigators may be guides across the hospital site, providing clear information and resolving customer service issues. They may also sign-post to other services and assist with patient experience feedback.
This role requires volunteers who are physically fit and able to stand or walk for shifts, enjoy meeting all types of people, and maintain confidentiality in a busy hospital environment.
Navigators are needed in Main Outpatients Department and the Main Entrance from Monday to Sunday, with priority times 09:30–12:30 and 13:00–16:00.
Essential information
Please note you will be given a 20-minute assessment during the week commencing either the 13th October or 20th October at Kingston Hospital. Mandatory training for this role is on Tuesday 25th November 2025.

Group Two:
* Driving Licence photo card (UK, IOM or CI)
* Current EU Photo Driving Licence
* Driving licence - old-style paper licence (UK)
* Bank statement (UK/EEA) - less than 3 months old
* Utility bill - less than 3 months old (UK)
* Utility bill - 2nd Supplier - less than 3 months old
* Council Tax Statement - issued in the last 12 months
* Mortgage statement (UK or EEA) - issued in the last 12 months
NB: For aged 16–19 in full-time education who cannot provide two documents from Group Two, options include:
* Full UK birth certificate (A4 size original)
* Letter from head teacher or college principal confirming student status, plus an official exam certificate or National Insurance number letter
