Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm
Requirement: Must have access to a car – travel between sites required (travel expenses paid)
We are currently recruiting a reliable, proactive and practical Premises Officer to join a specialist SEMH school in the Burgess Hill area. This full-time, temp-to-perm role is vital in ensuring the safety, security, cleanliness and maintenance of the school buildings and grounds, supporting a safe and positive learning environment for students and staff.
Working alongside the Premises Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the school's infrastructure, carrying out day-to-day site duties and responding to maintenance and health & safety requirements.
The Role Will Include:
* Managing site security, including alarms, locks, CCTV and fire safety systems
* Carrying out general maintenance and handyperson duties (e.g., painting, basic plumbing, minor repairs)
* Liaising with contractors for larger maintenance and repair works
* Ensuring the premises are clean, secure and well-maintained at all times
* Supporting compliance with health and safety regulations, including legionella testing
* Providing porterage support, including moving furniture and equipment
* Maintaining external areas and ensuring safe access, particularly during adverse weather
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Previous experience in a caretaking, site or premises role (school experience desirable)
* Good practical maintenance and DIY skills
* A strong understanding of health and safety procedures
* A reliable, proactive and flexible approach to work
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Access to a car and willingness to travel between sites
